Libertarian Perspective on Immigration

We have a system that increasingly taxes work and subsidizes nonwork.

                                                                                                     -Milton Friedman

The core principle for which libertarians are famous is their belief in limited government intervention and individual freedom. Immigration in contemporary times is linked to restrictive freedom of movement. However, in actual terms, it was meant to be free from any kind of restrictions. Even disputes have occurred due to immigration.

Libertarian Perspective

Libertarians believe that when we are restricting immigration we are restricting individual liberty and  that people should have the right to seek better opportunities, regardless of their place of birth. This view also holds that free movement of people can lead to greater economic prosperity, both for the immigrants and the countries they move to, by allowing labor markets to function more efficiently.

The Rohingya tribe of Bangladesh is a classic example of how this stateless tribe has faced the wrath of immigration challenges in contemporary times. Currently, the tribe lives in Myanmar and is still facing challenges in order to settle their immigration dispute. This libertarian perspective is a violation of individual rights.

Conclusion

Immigration can have positive restrictions, but when it surpasses that, it becomes restrictive of individual liberty, leading to widespread discontentment when it comes to living life freely,
