How Would Libertarians React to Violence Against Women?
Libertarians believe that violence of any kind is intolerable. When it comes to violence, libertarians are not in favor of it.

The only proper purpose of a government is to protect man's rights, which means to protect him from physical violence. A proper government is only a policeman, acting as an agent of man's self-defense, and, as such, may resort to force only against those who start the use of force- Ayn Rand.
In this article, we will be discussing how libertarians would react to violence against women; given the current scenario, we are living in a hell hole where the female population is on the edge when it comes to safety.
Women in Danger
The recent Gang rape and murder of second-year PGT trainee doctor at RG Kar medical college has sent shock waves throughout the nation. The brutal incident spiked wide nationwide protests concerning the safety of women. A similar incident in 2012, where a delhi girl was raped and murdered, had seen a similar momentum in terms of protest, and justice was delivered after seven long years of struggle. These two incidents have raised a question mark on the safety of women in the workplace. There have been many cases where the violence against women has been escalating in recent decades. It is time to have a tough Indian Justice system that will help in enforcing the laws, which will lead to a safer environment for women.

Libertarian Perspective
One of the core tenets of libertarians is the nonviolence principle. This primarily states that individuals should not initiate force or coercion against others. When we look at it from this perspective, rape is seen as a severe violation of individual rights and a clear-cut example of aggression.
Libertarians believe in justice and accountability. The justice system is the one that holds individuals accountable for initiating force or any kind of aggression. But does the justice system actually work in our country? This question will be answered in due course as the Indian justice system takes up the RG Kar medical college case further.
Another significant perspective that shapes the libertarian vision of rape culture is the severe violation of individual rights. Libertarians view rape as a heightened violation of a person’s bodily autonomy and self-ownership. While libertarians believe in no state intervention, they certainly agree that it is the duty of the state to protect women from such heinous crimes.
Rape culture and any kind of gender-based violence is highly condemned by libertarians.
Conclusion
The recent rape and murder case of Kolkata has severely been condemned by libertarians, and the only way to get rid of such perpetrators is to actually train women in self-defense and legal permissions to carry ammunition.
