Why Libertarians Believe that Decrease in Healthcare Prices would Lead to Increase in Quality Healthcare?
As we grapple with the post pandemic side effects, healthcare facilities have become quite expensive. Explore the libertarian’s take in this article.

There is no reason why, in a society which has reached the general level of wealth ours has, (the certainty of a given minimum of sustenance) should not be guaranteed to all without endangering general freedom; that is: some minimum of food, shelter and clothing, sufficient to preserve health. - Friedrich Hayek
Ideally everyone wants to access the best of healthcare at quite an affordable price. The libertarians believe that this can be achieved with the removal of Government interference and accessibility to free markets.
Healthcare and Government
There are many ways in which there is Government interference. For instance, the Government exercises a monopoly through a handful of insurance companies, which makes them act as payers. Additionally, Governments decide most of the things that are to be incorporated in the healthcare industry. The recent COVID-19 pandemic saw an insurgence of Government interference in the healthcare sector, which has led to the Government being under the spotlight. In the First wave, the government handled the pandemic with the utmost casual attitude, leading to the spread of the virus. There were numerous beds, vaccines, and inadequate healthcare facilities which crept in the healthcare sector of india. Had the ruling government handled the mass pandemic in a more vigilant manner, then the COVID-19 pandemic would have seen much fewer casualties, and there would been no havoc for adequate healthcare facilities. The changes in healthcare that are seen post the Covid-19 pandemic has been alarming considering the way healthcare sector has operated for the two years of pandemic.
Not only do these Governments get to decide when and how to open new healthcare facilities. Does this interference really necessary? The healthcare sector must be free of government control rather than handing over the checkbook to the Government and wielding it for their own benefit.
Libertarian and Healthcare Sector
The healthcare sector must be operated by healthcare professionals who believe in giving fair treatment to all at an affordable price. Not only must the government stay away from taking any decisions to lead the country’s healthcare development, but it must also support the healthcare fraternity to upgrade its facilities through non-interference. Libertarians believe that each person has the right to make their own medical decisions and government’s interference in meddling with healthcare development. With the liberals believing to make their own medical decisions, the opportunities in health care post covid are likely to grow and the future of healthcare post covid 19 is surging thanks to the integration of Artificial Intelligence.
Conclusion
Libertarians believe in free will and positive liberty which has to be exercised in healthcare industry for freedom to flourish. Hence, it becomes essential to support libertarian vision to curb Govenrment’s control in Healthcare sector.
